Haoyu is an alpha Foxian male, a few centuries old, standing at 5'11" with a slender build. His hair is grey, which he keeps long and usually braided, falling over his shoulder, and his eyes are a pale violet-grey. His features are elegant, with a strong nose, an expressive mouth, and eyes that easily light up with his emotions. He usually looks thoughtful and curious, with an artist's perceptive eye.
He became a Captain in the Cloud Knights right around the time that the High-Cloud Quintet formed (somewhere after Year 7143), and so was at their side during a number of notable events, including driving out the borisin invading Thalassa, rescuing the Xianzhou Yuque, and defeating the living planet Ketu Mirage. In those days, he was eager to prove himself, diving into battle with his composite swords and his moonlight magic. After the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae, Haoyu was one among the Cloud Knights that fought against him.
In the Third Abundance War, in Year 8072, Haoyu was elevated to Lieutenant General, and was one of the highest ranking officers in the Comet Orbit Fleet. After the war was won, he has largely remained off of the front lines, instead preferring to train new recruits.
He is a warrior-poet, devoting much of his free time to artistic endeavors, especially poetry and painting, with a particular fondness for charcoal. Haoyu usually has paint under his fingernails and a notebook in his pocket, ready to note down any scraps of thought that come to him. He's a gentle soul, though ruthless in battle when he needs to be, and though he might come across as mild-mannered, he has a sharp wit and an even sharper perceptive gaze. His humor is dry, though he loves a good bad joke, and despite the horrors of the war he's largely managed to remain a cheerful sort of person.
